Ready to jog, walk, or sprint your way into a new routine?
Parkrun has become a Saturday morning staple for thousands across the UK and beyond – and it’s easy to see why. Whether you’re looking to build fitness, meet people, or simply start your weekend with a burst of energy (and maybe a coffee afterwards), here’s your easy, fun guide to getting started.
What is Parkrun, anyway?
Imagine this: it’s 9am on a Saturday. You’re standing in a local park with a friendly crowd, the sun is (hopefully) shining, and you’re about to tackle a free, timed 5k run or walk.
Parkrun is exactly that – a weekly, community-run event that’s open to everyone, from speedsters to complete beginners. There’s no cost, no pressure, and no medals (except the pride of getting up early and moving your body).
Why should you try Parkrun?
✔️ It’s free – perfect for the cost-of-living crisis.
✔️ You’ll meet lovely people – parkrunners are famously supportive.
✔️ You don’t have to run – walkers are welcomed with open arms.
✔️ It boosts your mood – there’s nothing like the fresh air, sense of achievement, and post-run cuppa.
